Today the exhibition was officially opened. My painting Tulips & Flowers was one of the 40 paintings in the exhibition about bulb-flowers by old and new masters.
Ofcourse i am proud to say my painting was selected on the posters, brochures etc.
My work is mostly inspired by the Memento Mori or Vanitas themes from the 17th century translated into contemporary iconology. My paintings have a limited palette of five basic colours painted on wooden panels. Typical features are the use of high contrasts and my preference for grey greens and 'old' blue colours. This is also the case in the more recently painted portraits and nudes.
