Dutch painter receives Medal of the Societe d'Argent Academic Arts Sciences Lettres in Paris.

Dutch painter receives Medal of the Societe d'Argent Academic Arts Sciences Lettres in Paris.

The Rotterdam artist Jaap Snijder (Rotterdam, 1966) is awarded with a Medaille d'Argent during the official ceremony of the annual Society Academic Arts Sciences Lettres in the prestigious Hotel Le Grand.

The French Academy Arts – Sciences – Lettres (The Society was founded in 1915 and recognizes men and women of all nationalities who have distinguished themselves in the arts, performing arts, architecture, physical and medical sciences and letters.

The art of Jaap Snijder usually consists of realistic still lifes with an unusual arrangement of shells, flowers or animal remains. The subjects are influenced by the Memento Mori and Vanitas theme of the 17th century translated into a contemporary iconology.

Medaille d' Argent
Past recipients include Albert Schweitzer, Marie Curie, Yehudi Menuhin, Colette and Jacques Cousteau.
